Hampton Inn Review: Lake Havasu City
Lake Havasu City was an unexpected place to stop but we thought it was great.
We’ve been traveling full-time for almost four months now and we’ve been living in hotels all over. There have been great places we’ve stayed in and some awful ones. But Hampton Inn Lake Havasu City is near the top of the list.
Our Thoughts on Hampton Inn in Lake Havasu City
First, if you’ve never been to Lake Havasu City in Arizona, you’re missing out on a gem of a place. Originally established as an Army Air Corps rest camp during WWII, it’s now mostly known as a party town for vacationers and locals. Nestled next to the beautiful scenery of Lake Havasu, this small city is now home to the original London Bridge. It’s the second-largest tourist destination in Arizona and offers plenty of entertainment options.
The Property
The Hampton Inn property itself offers a gorgeous view of the lake and is the area's most pristine hotel. I loved the vibrant atmosphere and decor. You’ll feel like you’re in a posh hotel without paying exorbitant prices. It was also immaculate and well-maintained, which is always a plus for a guy who suffers from OCD.
The location is also great. It’s right down the street from the London Bridge tourist area, in addition to being close to many restaurants you can easily walk to.
Finally, they have two outdoor areas for the building. If you’re looking for a place to sit outside and smoke or enjoy a beer, or you prefer a relaxing poolside view of the lake, the Hampton Inn Lake Havasu City has got you covered. Both of these areas are awesome.
The Staff
One of the reasons we really liked this property was Jamie Yovino, the General Manager. She’s got a fantastic personality and was so accommodating to us, even though we didn’t have reservations on a busy weekend. Topanga and Chris at the front desk were super-friendly and the rest of the staff I talked with were enjoyable.
The Breakfast
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the breakfast falls way short for a hotel stay. They offer a grab-and-go bag with a few options at the moment, but at least you get something.
Interestingly, breakfast options vary widely across hotel chains and states right now. We’ve been in places that offer complete breakfast options, ranging from a breakfast bar and yogurt. Flexibility is key here.
The Pricing and Room
The Hampton Inn at Lake Havasu City has nightly rates that are a bit higher due to the location, with most rooms being over $100 USD. We stayed in the King Bed Lake Room with a Balcony overlooking the pool, which usually sells for $127-$159 online. Thankfully, we were given a better rate; otherwise, we would’ve had to choose another option. After all, we have a daily budget to stick to!
The room itself was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The king-sized clean and fresh Hampton bed® is so worth it compared to other beds we’ve suffered on. If watching TV is a priority, the 37-inch HDTV and WiFi will satisfy your needs. Everything else was good to go.
Final Thoughts
Without a doubt, we would stay at the Hampton Inn Lake Havasu City again.
Watching the sunset over the lake from the balcony made for a relaxing evening. The hotel's vibe makes for a charming stay, and the location is perfect for a weekend getaway or a week at the lake. And if you need to grab a beer or snack, you can also pick it up at the front desk store, making life easier.
Our only regret is not being able to stay longer. Next time you’re in Lake Havasu City, book your stay with Hampton Inn.
